kia Ora

We're Mike and Chris Millar and like many kiwis we aspired to own our own business. Something to Crow About combines our passion for a healthy lifestyle, nourishing, tasty food and sustainability.

Something to Crow About is based in our home town of Whangaparaoa just north of Auckland and with work 5 minutes from home, we are able to walk the dog before work and Mike is able to squeeze in a surf in the evening with our kids.

After busy corporate careers in sales and marketing, as well as bringing up a young family, we were excited to leap into a new challenge in 2014. We are really excited to part of the health and wellness movement and thriving NZ food sector.

something to crow about values

At Something to Crow About we create nutritious and delicious mueslis and other food products of the very best quality, using natural ingredients to sustain and delight the conscious consumer.

Many decisions we make are guided by our values and honesty and integrity is top of the list. Right from the start we wanted our packs to have clear windows so customers could clearly see what they were buying. Our ingredients list is as detailed as possible so customers can make informed choices about the food they eat.

We source our ingredients from New Zealand and around the world, working closely with suppliers to ensure our products are of the very best quality and if possible New Zealand grown. Our oats come from the Canterbury Plains and our walnuts from Nelson. Further afield our almonds are grown in South Australia and Brazil nuts from - you guessed it - Brazil.  Some of our ingredients are organic and most are preservative free. Our customers expect the best and so do we. Our food is handcrafted in small batches so we can keep an eye on quality and ensure the freshest product possible reaches customers.

We're focused on gluten free, low sugar and grain free muesli blends. You'll find we have options for vegans and for those looking to avoid preservatives. Food trends aside, the overruling principal is the integrity of flavour – Something to Crow About mueslis and seed toppers must taste great!

Over the years Something to Crow About has grown from a one man band to now employing a small team of locals.  We recycle and re-use as much as possible, working with suppliers and the local recycling depot to minimise waste. Local chickens benefit from leftovers as we collect nuts and grains from the floor.  In return we get eggs dropped off to us occasionally. It's a muesli circle of life.

As word about the quality and good taste of Something to Crow About has spread, so has its availability. Look out for Something to Crow About at supermarkets and selected independent grocers throughout New Zealand.
