We're Mike and Chris Millar and like many kiwis we aspired to own our own business. Something to Crow About combines our passion for a healthy lifestyle, nourishing, tasty food and sustainability.
Something to Crow About is based in our home town of Whangaparaoa just north of Auckland and with work 5 minutes from home, we are able to walk the dog before work and Mike is able to squeeze in a surf in the evening with our kids.
After busy corporate careers in sales and marketing, as well as bringing up a young family, we were excited to leap into a new challenge in 2014. We are really excited to part of the health and wellness movement and thriving NZ food sector.
As word about the quality and good taste of Something to Crow About has spread, so has its availability. Look out for Something to Crow About at supermarkets and selected independent grocers throughout New Zealand

honesty & integrity
Many decisions we make are guided by our values and honesty and integrity is top of the list. Right from the start we wanted our packs to have clear windows so customers could clearly see what they were buying.
We source our ingredients from New Zealand and around the world, working closely with suppliers to ensure our products are of the very best quality and if possible New Zealand grown. Our oats and linseed come from the Canterbury Plains and our honey comes from various locations around NZ.
We're focused on creating healthy and delicious food. For us it means a focus on gluten free, minimising sugar and grain free muesli blends. The health star rating system provides a framework for meeting health targets.
something to crow about values
At Something to Crow About we create nutritious and delicious mueslis and other food products of the very best quality, using natural ingredients to sustain and delight the conscious consumer.
HONESTY AND INTEGRITY
Many decisions we make are guided by our values and honesty and integrity is top of the list. Right from the start we wanted our packs to have clear windows so customers could clearly see what they were buying. Our ingredients list is as detailed as possible so customers can make informed choices about the food they eat.
We source our ingredients from New Zealand and around the world, working closely with suppliers to ensure our products are of the very best quality and if possible New Zealand grown. Our oats come from the Canterbury Plains and our walnuts from Nelson. Further afield our almonds are grown in South Australia and Brazil nuts from - you guessed it - Brazil. Some of our ingredients are organic and most are preservative free. Our customers expect the best and so do we. Our food is handcrafted in small batches so we can keep an eye on quality and ensure the freshest product possible reaches customers.
THE HEALTH CONSCIOUS CONSUMER
We focus on creating healthy and delicious food for health conscious customers. For us it means a focus on gluten free, minimising sugar and using real food ingredients. The health star rating system provides a framework for meeting health targets - our entire range is 4 health stars or more. You'll find we have options for vegans and for those looking to avoid preservatives. Food trends aside, the overruling principal is the integrity of flavour – Something to Crow About breakfasts and seed toppers must taste great!
Over the years Something to Crow About has grown from a one man band to now employing a small team of locals. We strive to manage waste from our facility in a sustainable way. Recycling and composting programmes on site ensure most waste avoids landfill.
We have teamed up with these business to manage our waste. We Compost, Soft Plastics Recycling and local charity Love Soup to redistribute good food that would otherwise go to waste. We continue to review our packaging options and are hopeful of finding a sustainable solution that works for customers and the environment.
